Andy Reid benches Skyy Moore on special teams: Chiefs fans want more

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid removed Sky Moore from the role of his own team in the win over the Los Angeles Rams, but that change may not be permanent.

Skyy Moore has struggled on special teams this year, and it’s not a role he’s necessarily accustomed to since his time at Western Michigan. From Kansas City’s point of view, it’s a way to get the ball in his hands, as he can be quite dynamic at times.

Moore is just beginning to find his footing on the Chiefs offense, developing confidence with Patrick Mahomes. However, Reid and special teams coordinator Dave Tope seem determined to keep him in a special teams role that he struggles with.

Sunday Moore Fumbled again, prompting Reed to try a new bet returner. When asked if this change is permanent, Reed was noncommittal.

‘We’ll see.’ said Reid, both of them ESPN’s Adam Tescher.

Cheerleaders want Skye Moore removed from the special teams

Skyy Moore is a talented wide receiver who’s finally starting to make an impact on Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy’s offense. Now is the time to let it thrive there, rather than forcing a square peg into a round hole, possibly hurting a novice’s confidence in the process.

To be fair, Kansas City football fans don’t have much to complain about. They are the top seed in the AFC again and are favorites to win the Super Bowl, thanks in large part to Reed, Mahomes, and decision making.

In Moore’s case, this may be one of those instances where the coaching staff must admit they were wrong, and start over. Special teams can make or break a game in the playoffs.

Sunday was a step in the right direction, even if it took Moore to implode in the role to force real change. A team like Chiefs shouldn’t have to deal with this kind of incompetence.
