The Kansas State Wildcats took on the TCU Horned Frogs with a Hypnotoad against them after winning the Big 12 Championship.
The TCU Horned Frogs enjoyed a successful 2022 season. They were 12-0 the year they entered the Big 12 Championship game, and on their way to a College Football Playoff berth. The happy berth could have been secured with a win.
This did not happen.
Despite overcoming a 28-17 drive to force overtime behind a heroic performance by quarterback Max Dugan, the Horned Frogs fell to the Kansas State Wildcats 31-28 on a game-winning field goal by Tyler Zentner.
To the victor go the spoils. As for the Kansas State Football Social Media Team, they decided to pour salt into the Horned Frogs’ wound, using Hypnotoad against them!

For those unaware, Hypnotoad is a character from Matt Groening’s Futurama cartoon. John Buhler of FanSided gave Hypnotoad a perfect description:
Hypnotoad is a recurring bit character in Matt Groening’s Futurama cartoon. He is a frog with multi-coloured wiggling eyes and has the power of mind control. He makes this buzzing noise when his eyes are doing their thing. People, animals, mutants, and aliens are all powerless before the great leader that is Hypnotoad. As for the TCU Horned Frogs, they are perfect. Obey hypnosis!
The character has been adopted by TCU. From head coach Sonny Dykes wearing a Hypnotoad training vest, to video boards at Amon G. Carter Stadium showing Hypnotoad clips and triathlon videos during games. The Hypnotoad is a beloved mascot.
Now, with such a loss, the Wildcats have decided to use their own Hypnotoad meme format against them. They did, after all, hand the Horned Frogs their first loss of the season and create some drama before the College Football Playoff selection show on Sunday at 12:00 PM ET.
