The Kansas City Chiefs had a rocky start against the Cincinnati Bengals, receiving a holdover on a passer penalty.
The Kansas City Chiefs failed to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in both of their meetings last year, with the latter being in the AFC Championship game. In Week 13, the Chiefs hunted for their 10th win of the season and came close to clinching the AFC West title.
Their game on the road in Cincinnati wasn’t easy, and it certainly didn’t help when they were called for a questionable penalty.
Late in the first quarter, the Chiefs appeared to set up an interception by Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, but it was eliminated by a defensive tackle. On the next play, Burrow threw an incomplete pass intended for wide receiver Tee Higgins on second-and-eight. But, defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth was called out for threatening a passer for hitting Boro.
Take a look at the play and judge for yourself.
Called the Chiefs for a questionable rough passing penalty versus the Bengals
The play resulted in a 15-yard gain for Cincinnati and an automatic first set-up at Kansas City’s 32-yard line. The last thing Chiefs fans wanted to see was the passer penalty undercut, considering the controversy they were involved in earlier this year (i.e., Chris Jones vs. the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5).
This eventually set up the Bengals for their eventual touchdown on a pass from Burrow to wide receiver Higgins to extend their lead to 14-3.
The Chiefs managed to get into the end zone with just over two minutes remaining in the first half, after quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with running back Jerrick McKinnon on a two-yard touchdown run.
Depending on how this game ends, the harsh penalty kick that Stallworth called will be talked about.
