What Ben Roethlisberger had to say about George Pickens’ side tantrum

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger addressed blasting George Pickens on his podcast.

Ben Roethlisberger knows a thing or two about dealing with stumbling wide receivers – he’s been able to get along with Antonio Brown for years. Brown, as we all know, has failed to make much of a sustained impact since then. Roethlisberger has been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

On his podcast, Roethlisberger commented on what he saw of George Pickens, a rookie wide receiver from Georgia, who drew some comparisons to Brown and other stricken Steelers receivers of years past with his sideline tantrum against the Falcons.

Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger’s comments on George Pickens

“I guarantee it just happened,” Roethlisberger said on his most recent episode offootballinPodcast “With Ben Roethlisberger”. “They threw a little (2) yard completion at him. That’s a typical offensive coordinator trying to keep a guy happy. They threw a 3-yard pass to him trying to keep him happy. We’re gonna do it with the guys, we gotta do blah blah blah blah blah, he fights with everybody, gotta We throw a screen. You’d do anything to get the ball and that just happened. Some guys that would be fine, but we’ll see.”

Pickens has a lot of talent, and he should rebound from that experience really well. He’s just a newbie, after all.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is impressed with the energy he witnessed from Pickens, but would rather channel it in a positive way, rather than call anyone out directly.

“I’d rather say ‘whoa’ than ‘sic,'” Tomlin said on Tuesday. per ESPN. “I want a guy who wants to be an important part of what we’re doing. Now, the appropriate, professional, mature way to put it, we’re growing and working, and we’re going to get that going. But that spirit, that competitive spirit, the guy who wants the ball. I want that guy.”

Pittsburgh won its second straight game by defeating Atlanta 19-16. It’s their first two-game winning streak this season.
