Trae Young has enjoyed tormenting the Knicks inside Madison Square Garden, and he had a message on his shoe at Wednesday’s game at MSG.
It would be hard to pick your favorite time Trae Young puts a Knicks fan through an emotional torture chamber at Madison Square Garden just because of the number of times he’s done it. Whether it was his 45-point touchdown in March of last season, averaging 30 and nearly 10 in the 2021 playoff series between the Hawks and New York, or something in between.
Young undoubtedly enjoyed his time at MSG throughout his five years with Atlanta, much more than the Knicks fans who routinely booed their disdain for him.
No one to light a fire, though, Young was in the Hawks’ lineup after a brief absence amid turmoil in the Atlanta locker room and felt it was a good time to piss off the New York fans a bit. And he did it perfectly with a pair of custom shoes that had a message for the MSG fans.
Trae Young Shoes Send a Cold Message to Knicks in MSG of ‘King of Broadway’
On his blue Adidas sneakers, the side of the heel bore a message Nicks clearly saw when he declared himself the “King of Broadway.”
Coming on a Wednesday night, it was hard to argue with that. However, it would have been a much stronger message if he and the Hawks had been able to back it up.
Whether the “King of Broadway” message angered the Knicks or not, they grabbed something in Atlanta in the contest as they jumped out to a 12-point halftime lead and just added to that, sitting at 22 after three quarters. On the Young side, he’s still playing strong with 19 points, six assists and four boards in 30 minutes, but he was a far cry from his previous projects.
The feud will flare brighter after that, and the next time Trae Young is in Madison Square Garden, he better defend his self-proclaimed throne.
