The Kansas City Chiefs have maintained an interest in Odell Beckham Jr., but does that make sense for them long-term despite his injury?

Odell Beckham Jr.’s unconfirmed injury status may have cost him his chance with the Dallas Cowboys, but that won’t stop other teams from swinging by.

Heck, even Jerry Jones admitted that Dallas isn’t completely “out” with Beckham Jr. They were only interested in medical matters. Micah Parsons, who would have been Beckham Jr.’s teammate on the Cowboys, said the expected recovery time for OBJ was 4 to 5 weeks.

This schedule may line up a potential playoff appearance, but merging with a talented team isn’t enough to take on Dallas. So why do chiefs maintain interest, according to Jordan Schultz of Score?

Just like any high profile free agent signing, there are pros and cons to signing Odell Beckham Jr.

Pro: Chiefs won’t need Odell Beckham Jr. Until the playoffs

When Odell is healthy, he can be one of the most electric receivers in football. OBJ made a real difference in the postseason for the Rams already owning Cooper Kupp and more. This year, without Beckham, the L.A. offense has never looked the same, though much of that can be a cause of injury and Super Bowl hangover.

Kansas City’s receiving corps are deep, and scoring isn’t a problem. Patrick Mahomes and his Chiefs are 10-3 and sailing into the AFC Champions League playoff. Signing Odell would only add to the embarrassment of fortune.
