Anthony Rizzo dropped hard feelings towards the Cubs to recruit Jameson Tellon

Anthony Rizzo did one last serve for the Chicago Cubs this offseason. While Rizzo himself chose to stay with the New York Yankees, he helped convince a former teammate to head to Chicago’s North Side.

Anthony Rizzo signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Yankees. It was New York’s first major move in the offseason, which prevented the former Cubs star from signing with the likes of the Houston Astros or anywhere else.

Once he was successfully tied to the Bronx for two more seasons, Rizzo played a role in convincing Jameson Tyone to sign with Chicago. Per Taillon himself, Rizzo has heard from either former teammates or Cubs executives that the organization is interested. From there, the 2016 world champion had nothing but glowing things to say.

“I think he heard from some Cubs sources. He said I would love it there, and if I had any questions he would run it. He had great things to say,” he said. Taillon said.

Anthony Rizzo has gotten over the wounds of the Cubs’ departure

Things heated up between Anthony Rizzo and team boss Jed Heuer upon the former star’s departure. Hoyer seems to be hinting that failing to sign contract extensions with the club was the likes of Rizzo, Chris Bryant, Javier Paez and others. Rizzo publicly retracted this assumption.

“I’m at a loss as to why,” said Rizzo “Kap & J Hood” of ESPN 1000. “Why would I say that? It feels like a bad breakup and the person says it’s okay when it’s not okay.”

Rizzo believed that Hoyer’s comments came the wrong way, and that the organization should take some responsibility for their failure to close down the local starts. He stated that “things like MVP in the game… cost money”. He has a point there.

Rizzo continued, “I know it’s about a business and when you want your cake, and you want to eat it too, that’s kind of what it looks like.” Nobody signed.”

As time went by, hard feelings between the two sides, it seemed, also developed.
