The Mets made a terrible move, stealing Carlos Correa from the Giants and adding a huge bat to their already stacked lineup.
Correa was supposed to be a member of the San Francisco Giants, but hesitated after something appeared in his body, opening the door for the Mets to pounce on him and steal him a 12-year, $315 million contract. It’s a development we could talk about for years and a move that could change the power structure in the NL.

Correa adds a large, versatile offensive presence to the lineup and helps direct an offense that was already one of MLB’s best last season. As Boyle pointed out, having him take charge of the 3B also gives the Mets additional trading options and more flexibility for the DH to play around with different odds.
What Correa is doing is making Eduardo Escobar expendable through a trade and putting less pressure on youngsters Francisco Alvarez and Brett Batty. If the Mets have confidence in any of those at bats, they can even take regular action as a DH. It could be Escobar, in particular. “His fluid history of playing third base and second base might be enticing enough to keep him around. A full year at Triple-A for Baty could be a good one before the club decides his fate.”
We still have a few months to go before spring training opens, but for now the Mets may have made themselves the team to win next season.
