After it was revealed that Tua Tagovailoa was again concussed, several NFL chiefs argued that he should not play for the rest of the season.
Tua Tagovailoa is in concussion protocol after suffering what appears to be his third concussion of the season on Sunday against the Packers.
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel revealed that the quarter reported symptoms of a concussion to team doctors Monday morning. His status for Sunday’s game against the Patriots is now in doubt.
Furthermore, this latest concussion has raised questions about the NFL’s protocols regarding head injuries. It is suspected that Tagovailoa may have sustained a concussion late in the first half due to an injury as he hit his head back on the turf.
Apparently, NFL watchers didn’t catch that moment and the quarterback played the second half, badly, with a head injury.
When the news broke, a host of voices in the NFL world made it clear that they believed Tagovailoa should not play again this season.
Should Tua Tagovailoa play again this season?
Tagovailoa has been the focal point of controversies related to multiple concussions already this year. He appeared lopsided and fumbled after a hit against the Bills. However, the team claimed that he suffered a back injury and continued to play. The NFLPA has opened an investigation into whether the Dolphins bypassed concussion protocol by allowing him to return to the game.
The QB was later cleared for a Thursday Night Football game against the Bengals. In that bout, he took another blow to the head and displayed a fencing reaction. In a terrifying scene, he was removed from the field and taken to a local hospital. The NFL changed its concussion protocol policies in response to that entire saga.
Now, Tagovailoa is once again back in concussion protocol after being allowed to play following a suspected head injury.
