Watch the Pistons’ clearing bench fight, Magic

Three players in the Orlando Magic – Detroit Pistons game on Wednesday were ejected after fighting over the bench.

The Detroit Pistons hosted the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night, looking to end their six-game losing streak. While Detroit won 121-101, there was a walkout that occurred before halftime.

With less than a minute left in the second quarter, Magic center Moritz Wagner chased down a pass from a teammate. He ran alongside Pistons sophomore guard Killian Hayes, who seemed to come close to getting basketball. Wagner threw his hip at Hayes, causing him to fall into the Pistons’ bench area.

And the Pistons bench was excluded from pushing Wagner, as goalkeeper Hamidou Diallo pushed Wagner in the back. Afterwards, Hayes appeared to punch Wagner in the back of the head.

Three Magic Pistons players ejected after a fight

Wagner, Hayes, and Habidou were all ejected from the game. Moritz received a flagrant 2 foul, while Hayes and Habidou were ejected for their actions.

There were several Magic players who weren’t in the game and left the bench to head into Pistons territory on the sidelines. These players include Mo Bamba, Cole Anthony, Terrence Ross, Admiral Scofield, Wendell Carter, Franz Wagner, Kevon Harris and RJ Hampton.

As for the game, Detroit had two great performances off the bench from Alec Burks and Friend Bay. Burks scored 32 points while shooting 10-for-11 from the field and 6-for-7 from the three-point line. Bay had 28 points (8-for-16 from the field, 6-for-11 from the three-point line), eight rebounds, and four assists.

Now, the Pistons and Magic will await word from the league as to what kind of discipline the players face as a result of the bench-clearing incident.
