The final set for Michigan fans saddened by TCU’s playoff loss

ESPN wasn’t shy about showing all the sad Michigan fans in the stands at the Fiesta Bowl during their upset loss to TCU.

Michigan fans had good reason to go to a New Year’s Eve playoff game against TCU.

Oddsmakers had them favored by relegation. They made it through the season undefeated. They beat Ohio State. They’ve won a Big Ten title. It was all coming together for the title race.

Then they bumped into TCU.

Horned frogs punched them in the mouth early on. They jumped out to a 14-0 lead. They led 21-6 at halftime. Then they got an answer for every time the Wolverines tried to fight back.

Throughout the game, an ESPN camera captured the desperation of Michigan fans in the stands. It was glorious gloating.

The ultimate collection for Michigan fans grieving over CFP’s loss

Michigan fans have watched their season burn in the College Football Playoff twice now. Last year, they were humbled 34-11 by Georgia in the Orange Bowl. This year, they at least had a late chance, but the match proved they weren’t ready to win the championship.

Jim Harbaugh faced a lot of criticism from fans for his coaching performance in the game, especially since the Wolverines were soundly beaten in the first half. The offense came alive in the second half but the defense struggled to stop in key moments.

With the Big Ten title in hand, Michigan’s season wasn’t a failure, but it certainly ended painfully for those fans in the Fiesta Bowl.
