Raiders rumors

After the 2022 season ends, the Las Vegas Raiders could undergo an overhaul. It is likely that these three players will not return for the 2023 campaign.

This season was supposed to be a solid season for the AFC West. The Las Vegas Raiders were supposed to be competing for playoff spots, but instead, it was the same old story.

Chiefs are Chiefs, Chargers are inconsistent and injury-plagued, and the Broncos still can’t find the answer in the quarterback—who saw that coming?

Meanwhile, the Raiders have a lot of issues that need to be addressed when the offseason officially opens. Decisions need to be made, specifically the players that this team will be built around.

When the 2023 campaign rolls around, the Raiders will sever ties with three high-profile names, in particular.

Raiders players who won’t return next season: Clelin Ferrell

The Raiders have already turned down a fifth-year option over former starting quarterback Clelin Ferrell, so he’s already walked out the door. But, there are plenty of reasons for him not to come back.

The biggest reason is the fact that Las Vegas already has a lot of money tied up in Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones. These two guys can still be a huge part of this team’s future and a couple of linebackers. They wouldn’t throw any more money on a third pass with Jones and Crosby under contract.

Instead, Las Vegas will use that money on other jobs it needs.

Additionally, Ferrell didn’t live up to his billing. It’s not great, or even above average, at speeding up a passer or stopping a run. Vegas would probably allow another team to overpay a guy who was drafted fourth again in 2019.
