Is Manningcast ready for tonight’s game in week 17? (Updated Jan 2)

Manningcast was an unusual addition to the Monday Night Football show’s slate, but will he be playing the Bills-Bengals Week 17 game tonight?

Monday Night Football has long been an esteemed part of NFL lore, but its brand has experienced some success over the past few years. ESPN made a bold move to add Joe Buck and Troy Aikman to restore some glory to its broadcast but stumbled onto something arguably better this period.

The Manningcast, featuring Peyton and Eli Manning, was one of the best broadcast innovations in the NFL’s recent memory. The Old Chiefs get the traditional MNF broadcast with two of the best announcers in the game, while the Manning Brothers host – in addition to guests – a live-watch talk show style offering a truly alternative broadcast experience.

It’s been a gateway for even the most casual fan to get caught up in the broadcast, if not the game, and it’s done wonders for the Monday Night Football brand.

However, it is not a every week thing. Manning’s has taken a few weeks off this season, which means there are a few games where replacement broadcasts aren’t available.

Is Manningcast in tonight, January 2nd?

Unfortunately, there will be no Manningcast for tonight’s game. ESPN is blowing Bills-Bengals broadcasts on all of its properties, which might lead someone to believe that Manningcast will be tonight.

That person would be me.

The Manningcast usually airs on ESPN2, and tonight’s game has already been listed as airing on ESPN2 but it won’t be what we’re all hoping for. The Manning’s is down this week which means Buck and Aikman will be pulling all the strings on all the channels the game will be broadcasting.

Last week’s episode hinted that there would be no more regular seasons airing and impressively in a few weeks.

But Manningcast will be back. The final episode of the season will air in conjunction with ESPN’s Wild Card Game on January 16.
