Lebbeus Overton becomes the latest five-star to commit to the Texas A&M football program.
The top-ranked recruit class has improved, with five-star defensive linebacker Lebbeus Overton committing to the Texas A&M Football 2022 recruiting class.
Overton was re-ranked for 2022 after being the best of 2023. He picked the Aggies over the Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs in the state for his commitment. Overton became the fifth five-star to be added to Jimbo Fisher’s top-ranked recruiting class in 2022. Despite the re-ranking, Overton’s talent should help him achieve some early playtime.
“After my first unofficial visit there, I felt really good about things, and this is where I met [defensive analyst] nick [Williams]He introduced me to the program, Overton told ESPN.
The clock is now ticking for Fisher to not only get the Aggies in the SEC Championship but to win a national title.

Overton was the type of player who would have been the crown jewel of any recruiting class had he not been reclassified. At Texas A&M, he is the latest five-star employee to join the top pool of talent in any employment category. For him to pick Texas A&M, it shows that he believes Fisher has the Aggies close to competing and winning a national title.
If the Aggies can get past the Alabama Crimson Tide at SEC West, make it to Atlanta and beat the Dawgs on their home soil by far, they can beat anyone in the country. While Fisher is to be commended for his great game hunt, he has to put it all together.
The best path to success for Texas A&M is to have a great 2022 season and build on that hiring. No, the Aggies don’t have to make it to Atlanta this fall, but anything short of a 10-2 season and berth six New Year’s pots won’t cut it. They need to get back to the level they were playing at during the 2020 season when they were the first team to come out of the playoff.
The ability to steal Overton from Georgia is huge, but matches are won and lost on the field of play.
