Vince Bischel managed to take down Mark Madsen, but Madsen made him overtake him in a unanimous decision to open the UFC 273 major card
Greco-Roman wrestling superstar Mark O. Madsen continued to impress in his short career in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, scoring a victory over Vince Bischel at UFC 273 to improve to 12-0 in his MMA career.
Although Madsen was best known for his wrestling, he was working on hitting it, and it seemed to pay off in the first round. Pichel struggled to find his set for part of the first five minutes of the fight, and Madsen worked on him with several leg kicks. Madsen still had the advantage when the two wrestled.

Madsen was able to take advantage of Bichel’s mistake in the second round to stand on his back and take the fight to the ground. However, Bichel hurried and tried to score a leg lock. Madsen slipped, though, and successfully fought off an attempt to remove Pichel’s follow.
Pichel took a loss in the final seconds of the second round, becoming the first to knock out the former silver medalist in Olympic wrestling.
Madsen dropped Pichel to the ground about a minute into the third round, and easily fended off Pichel’s triangle attempt. Bichel seemed to either be unable to get back on his feet or focus more on scrambling and fighting from below. Pichel tried another knee attempt in the final seconds of the fight, but Madsen wasn’t in any danger at all.
All judges scored the contest in Madsen’s favour, two with a 30-27 aggregate and one with a 29-28.
