The Green Bay Packers get Aaron Rodgers into a wide receiver by trading for Christian Watson.
After doubling down on some Dawgs in the first round with Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt, the Green Bay Packers added Bison to her future legion by trading to get North Dakota’s Christian Watson in 34th place in the second round. This should make Aaron Rodgers ecstatic.
As Packers fans went crazy after Green Bay went through a much-needed wide receiver twice in the first round Thursday night, they got one of the best players the FCS was hoping to provide in Watson. With Rodgers appearing in Pat McAfee ShowOn Project Spectacular Thursday night, he looked great with the team’s moves. Now, we understand.
Rodgers may never be able to throw a wide receiver in the first round at Green Bay, but Watson is about to do so.
Green Bay Packers get Aaron Rodgers to a wide receiver at Christian Watson
To date, the Packers have added Walker Wyatt and now Watson to their list of championship calibers. While losing the likes of Davante Adams and Za’Darius Smith in the NFL free agency is certainly painful, Green Bay is the favorite to win the NFC North once again. More importantly, the NFC is nowhere near as close to any conference entering next season as the Asian Football Confederation.
Although it would be impossible for Watson to reach Adams’ level as a rookie, the Packers traded to get him with every intention of becoming Green Bay’s No. 1 receiver before Rodgers eventually closed the nails. While it took an extra day for the Packers to get their man, Green Bay fans can easily relax on day three of NFL Draft after having a wide receiver.
Look for Rodgers to build a relationship as quickly as possible with Watson coming aboard this spring.
