Terran Mathieu interacts with his former LSU football teammate, Jarvis Landry, who is joining the New Orleans Saints.
One former LSU football star welcomes another to the New Orleans Saints, where Teran Mathew could not have been happier to be reunited with fellow college buddy Jarvis Landry at the NFC South.
Matthew and Landry were college mates for the 2011 SEC Championship and national runner-up on the LSU team. Honey Badger was making his way to the NFL two years later with the Arizona Cardinals, while Landry would be taken by the Miami Dolphins in the 2014 NFL Draft. More than a decade later, these two former Bayou Bengal members play in their home state once again.
Jordan Schultz was the first to report the news of Landry’s signing with the Saints.
Within minutes, Matthew tweeted to Landry to congratulate him on the move.
Landry replied to Mathieu’s tweet and can’t wait for what this season has in store.

Although they star in opposite sides of the ball, Matthew and Landry have thrived in their NFL careers up to this point. Matthew was the same defensive back dynamo he was during his memorable second season in 2011 at LSU. Landry has quietly been one of the best possession receivers in the NFL over the last half decade or so. He is a five-time pro player.
As for the reasonable expectations of the 2022 Saints, they can challenge the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the division and pay for an NFC Wild Card. They should be better than rebuilding the Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers. However, the Saints have a new head coach Dennis Allen taking over as Sean Payton, as well as James Winston in the second year after Drew Brees.
The Saints narrowly missed the post-season a year ago, so one would think they’d be in the mix ahead of the final weeks of next season. While they’re not a serious NFC exit threat, the Healthy Saints have the potential to hang out with just about anyone in the convention. By adding in the veteran game makers of Mathieu and now Landry, Saints is a lot of fun.
With Landry staying on the good side of the 30’s, he could be a productive player for years in New Orleans.
