Draft Chiefs included the addition of several new faces in defense, giving them the sport they desperately need, but also putting other veterans at risk of losing their jobs.
The Chiefs went through somewhat of an off-season roster rotation, missing major pieces like Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu. In turn, they’ve boosted their depth into the wide receiver and loaded them into defense across the NFL draft.
Defensive overhaul will pay huge dividends next season, but it could also force veterans out of the squad. These three men saw their groups in positions strengthen, putting them at risk of being released.

3. Deandera Baker, Cornrbak
Brett Veach has long been known for filling the corner post through the last rounds of the draft, UDFA or one-year veteran additions. This year, he took a turn philosophy. Drafting leaders Trent McDuffie in the first round, Joshua Williams in the fourth, and Jalen Watson in the seventh. They then traded former Texas linebacker Lonnie Johnson after enlisting.
All of these moves indicate that Veach wasn’t happy with his current set of angles, and when looking at who the odd man might be, DeAndre Baker stands out. The former Giants first-round pick might be overseas in Kansas City.
Becker has shown flashes with the team, but has so far been unable to put together a solid bar so the team can count on him more than depth and special teams. It might be best for him to find an opportunity elsewhere.
