It’s not often that you see competitors in the division making deals, but the Chicago White Sox should take these three players into account from within AL Central.
It’s still very early in the 2022 season for Major League Baseball, but the Chicago White Sox are clearly in a playoff stage. The team is currently without Lance Lynn and Eloy Jimenez. Garrett Crochet will also be absent until the end of the season.
But despite some early season struggles, the White Sox is within reach of leader Minnesota. But some reinforcements may be necessary if Chicago hopes to repeat that in the MLS Central League.
In fact, the White Sox may have to look inside their own section in order to improve their roster going forward. Which competitors should the White Sox target in a potential deal?
White Sox Trade Rumors: Andrew Benintendi
The Kansas City Royals are improving, but they are still a year or two away from being a playoff contender. Andrew Benintende He’s making a good start to the 2022 campaign, and the Chicago White Sox should seek the former Boston Red Sox player.
Yes, Chicago has the likes of Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez, and AJ Bullock on the court. There’s also the young Andrew Vaughn who saw the time in left field as well. But the White Sox can definitely use Benintende’s left bat.
The Royals player hits .327/ .393/ .425 and has 18 RBI per season. Benintendi is also a Gold Glove award winning left-hander. Bullock has not won a Gold Glove since 2015 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Benintendi side is under team control for the remainder of the 2022 season, so there is no long-term commitment on the part of the White Sox. With Gavin Sheets and Yasami Grandal as the only left bats in Tony La Russa’s lineup, Chicago could certainly benefit from Benintendi’s .870 OPS against right-handed shooters.
