Getting real about retirement is going to tear you apart.
Sue Bird has given herself entirely to WBNA for as long as we can remember but at the end of the season, she’ll be off into the sunset for good.
We still have it for a bit, but at a press conference on Thursday, the star spoke emotionally about her final season and honestly, we don’t blame her.
“I feel like I played for as long as I could at a really high level, both physically and mentally. It just got more and more difficult,” she said.
Baird announced her retirement on Twitter.
“I decided this was going to be my last year. I loved every minute, and I still do, so I will play last year, just as this little girl played her first.”
