Rival CEO Says Yankees Won’t Sign Cubs ‘Losers’

New York Yankees player and AL MVP nominee Aaron Judge is a free agent after the season, and apparently doesn’t want to sign a “loser” like the Chicago Cubs.

New York Yankees quarterback Aaron Judge has made a bet on himself this season, and it has paid off so far. He could become the highest-paid player of the season in the free agent market, whether he re-signs with the Yankees or signs elsewhere.

However, it looks like “nowhere else” will be on the north side of Chicago with the Chicago Cubs.

Rival CEO Says Yankees Star Aaron Judge Won’t Sign with Cubs ‘Losers’

The Chicago Cubs weren’t exactly the best baseball team in 2022, with the New York Yankees, far and away, being the best team. With Aaron Judge looking to win, it seems highly unlikely that Judge will sign the Cubs this off season, according to one of the rival executives in conversation with Buster Olney from ESPN (Subscription required).

“He wants to win. He’s not going to sign a loser like the Cubs now,” said the rival evaluator. “I don’t see him getting involved in the rebuilding.”

The Cubs have cut their pay by about 25 percent since 2019, and they came in Wednesday, with a record from 25 to 43, a 162 game average from 60 to 102. The current MLB record for winning a season is 116, and the Yankees are on track to break that record, Where they are on their way to a record high at 119-43.

The judge was a big reason for that. In 66 games, he leads the majors in running (55), home running (25), and sprinting (.644). Overall, it did .300/.378/.644 with an OPS+190, or 90% better than the league average. Its 3.4 rWAR is tied to the third highest in the majors.

No matter where he signs up, if he stays healthy, Aaron Judge will be a transcendent player for years to come. Maybe he can help turn the Cubs, or he can help the Yankees win their first world championship in over a decade.
