Mariners player Jesse Winter has apologized for his heart to fans after the big fight with the Angels, but that’s all he was apologizing for.
The sailors and angels got into an all-out brawl Sunday after Los Angeles player Andrew Wentz hit Jesse Winker in the hip in the second half.
Winker was furious, especially because the bowler went high on Julio Rodriguez in the first half. It was all seen as revenge after Mike Trout rounded the fastball with his head on Saturday night.
Of course, this is a baseball game, the seats are empty, punches have been thrown and a total of six players have been fired and both managers have been sent off. Winker added something extra by flipping the bird for Angels fans on its way out. It wasn’t a sight anyone in MLB was happy to see.
After the smoke cleared, he got his chance to counter his actions.
Jesse Winker apologizes for upsetting Angels fans after a fight
“The only thing I will apologize for is the fans’ heart. They pay their hard-earned money to come and watch a game, and they don’t deserve it, so I apologize to the fans, especially the women and children,” Winkler told all Greg Beacham.
The “Women and Children” theme was a little weird, but the gist of it was that Winker took the fan flop a step too far. This is a clear.
He might not want to apologize for charging the Angels’ seats, effectively provoking the quarrel, but it doesn’t really matter what he says about it. He will likely face MLB suspension either way. It’s just a matter of how long the league decides to sit down with.
The Angels went on to win 2-1, mercifully ending the series so both sides could move on.
