With only eight participants in the MLB Home Run Derby each season, there are always some players fans would like to see either turning down the opportunity or being ignored.
The MLB Home Run Derby 2022 will feature eight participants on Monday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. There are eight great participants that should provide a lot of entertainment for both fans in person and on TV.
Here are the participants and sowing them.
- 1. Kyle Schwarber, Phillies vs. 8. Albert Pujols, Cardinals
- 4. Juan Soto, Nationals vs. 5. Jose Ramirez, Guardians
- 3. Cory Seeger, Rangers vs. 6. Julio Rodriguez, Mariners
- 2. Pete Alonso, Mets vs. 7. Ronald Acuña Jr., Braves
But there are plenty of players we wish they could be in, too, but we’ve summarized them in the top three players we’d love to see at the MLB Home Run Derby.
3 Players We Wish Were in the MLB Home Run Derby
3) Yankees player Giancarlo Stanton
New York Yankees designated hitter/player Giancarlo Stanton hasn’t been to the Home Run Derby in a few years, but when he did in 2014, 2016 and 2017, he was great for fans to watch.
Between the three derbies, he hit 83 home runs and in the 2016 Home Run Derby at Petco Park in San Diego, he won it all. Stanton struggled with injuries in 2019 and 2020 but was healthy and in 2021 he’s been healthy this year hitting some of the strongest bombshells in the sport.
In the 2022 season, Stanton hit .237/ .319/ .516 with an OPS+ of 136. He also has 24 home runs and 61 RBI. This home run total is the third in the MLS, entering on Sunday. He was also chosen as an all-star.
