Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant may have had more to do with Keri Irving.
Another interesting wrinkle appeared in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving’s drama-filled saga for the Brooklyn Nets.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin was working Post Lowe On Monday, it gives an even greater sense of clarity to the chaotic chaos of Brooklyn. He told fellow ESPN colleague Zack Lowe, “There’s a school of thought that talks to people about the league that think Kevin Durant’s trade request wasn’t actually about getting him out of Brooklyn, it was about getting Kerry Irving out of Brooklyn.”
McMenamin will add that the Nets are not planning to do any trade involving Irving until things have settled down a bit with Durant. That would make sense somewhat, as Irving exercised his player option for the 2022-23 NBA season late last month. Durant can formally remove his trade order at any time, if he has not already done so. Either way, it looks like this team is headed toward a divorce.
Let’s try to regroup ourselves here for a second to try to understand why nets can’t play well.

It was Durant’s budding friendship with Irving that led him to voluntarily leave basketball heaven years ago. In theory, the partnership between Durant and Irving could provide the Nets franchise with something it had never achieved before: an NBA championship. However, the futility of the final, the mandates, the resignation of one ex-teammate and another not yet played, got us here.
Clearly, communication failure after communication has brought us to this juncture in Brooklyn. Confrontation was never the most millennial cup of tea anyway. What is true is that the rest of the league appears to be on hold, waiting for the Nets’ best player to see what he wants to do. If Durant doesn’t want to play with Irving anymore, he should be honest about it.
In short, Durant may actually want to stay, but he may want Irving out. Yes, that’s the meat and chips that McMenamin was discussing. Again, as with every Nets basketball game, it’s pointless. While the trio of Durant, Irving, and Ben Simmons should rival Brooklyn in the Eastern Conference, an unholy trio of alien characters makes this toxic.
It serves the networks out of the business of an eccentric, but that’s what they willingly signed up for.
