Kevin Durant won’t compare the Warriors to the 1998 Bulls, but he’ll troll Steve Kerr

Kevin Durant trolling Steve Kerr in comparisons to the Golden State Warriors and the 1998 Chicago Bulls.

Although Kevin Durant may not know how the 2017 Golden State Warriors stacked up with the 1998 Chicago Bulls, he knows exactly what coach Steve Kerr would do for Steve Kerr in a virtual basketball game.

With the Brooklyn Nets still a bit of a mess on summer days, Durant tweeted his former Warriors teammate Draymond Green about how the 2017 Warriors matched the 1998 Bulls championship. Greene is sure the greatest team in its history would have outdone Michael Jordan’s last dance troupe, but Durant isn’t so sure. He knows one thing…

Coach Kerr would have recognized Kerr as a key defensive responsibility to take on in Chicago.

“I can’t tell you what the results will be, but I know Steve Kerr would have demanded that we put Steve Kerr on as many checklists as possible.”

During his long playing career, Kerr was notorious for dropping 3 seconds before all else.

He’s a great digger from Durant, but we must ask ourselves again why he left basketball heaven.

This will go down as one of the sport’s greatest debates for the foreseeable future: Who would have won the NBA Finals head-to-head among the best teams in Bulls Warriors history? These two tyrannical teams played in completely different eras. The game was slower paced and more physical in the late ’90s, while late 2010 was a blur in shots and defensive substitutions.

What is undeniable here is that the only constant between these two teams is Kerr. Both versions of Kerr were very impressive to his team, but the Bulls still had the ultimate trump card: Michael Jeffrey Jordan. Durant could score at will, but no one could compete like The GOAT was at the peak of his power. Of course, Steph Curry might be better #2 over Scottie Pippen in this…

Ultimately, Golden State could have made a more compelling argument for the greatest team ever if Durant had stayed. The Warriors didn’t need to go 6-6 in the NBA Finals like the Jordan Bulls did, but what if they got one or two championships that went to the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, or Milwaukee Bucks? If Durant never left, the narrative would be different.

Besides Kerr pick and-rolling Kerr to death, the only other thing given is that this series will go seven games.
