Anthony Salamon is the PFL fighter you must watch

The PFL playoffs continue into PFL 8 and all eyes should be on Anthony Salamon.

Rory MacDonald is the big name associated with PFL 8, as former world champion Bellator attempts to compete for a place in the PFL Playoffs Finals. He’ll have to tackle 12-0 welterweight Magomed Umalatov to do so. It is a huge battle with huge results in making a career for every man. However, at the bottom of the card is another name hoping to get a career making moment. This guy is Anthony Salamon.

Salamone is the fighter to watch in PFL 8 with the PFL Playoffs still around them. The French are 7-0 with three decisions, three serve and one KO/TKO. He doesn’t have the resounding strength many fans hope for but his brilliance in the cage is undeniable.

Salamon, who goes along with Ours Blanc (polar bear), will make his PFL debut and will do so against 33-year-old Will Fleury, a 13-fight veteran who is also making his PFL debut after a decent stint at Bellator. During his time at Bellator, Fleury went 3-2 and while he didn’t defeat any top talents, he did enough to catch the eye of some.

Anthony Salamon won’t come out easy with Will Florey

Fleury’s job will be a tough one for the undefeated Salamon, and with the PFL looking for new talent all the time, he could make a name for himself in this fight and be assured of a look next season. With Kayla Harrison leaving the Women’s Lightweight Championship in 2023 to focus on more super fights, it is very likely that the PFL will close the divisional championship in favor of a new middleweight championship.

The brand stopped performing in the middleweight championships after PFL 11, and if the company can get enough players like Fleury and especially Salamone, they are prioritizing the middleweight tournament in 2023. Hopefully they will simply add a middleweight division for 2023 and they don’t have to withdraw another department to do so.

Salmon is a young prospect but with amazing potential, something the PFL needs for long-term survival.

PFL Qualifiers: Rory MacDonald vs Jasan Umalatov takes place on Saturday, August 13, 2022, live from Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, Wales. Follow up with FanSided MMA for all the news and highlights.
