Albert Pujols has bad news for the Cardinal fans who don’t want him to retire

After his last performance on multiple terrains, Albert Pujols insisted he would still retire at the end of the season.

The hot, red month of August continues in the future Albert Pujos Hall of Fame. The veteran St. Louis Cardinals captain continued to crush baseball balls, notching his 691st and 692nd home run Saturday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. In that same breath, he made some history as well.

For Cardinals fans who are hoping Pujols will reconsider retirement and give it back after the 2022 season, it’s time to let those hopes go. Pujols are fully committed to retiring at the end of this year.

“I’m still about to retire, no matter if I hit 693, 696, 700, whatever” Pujols told USA TODAY Sports. “I don’t get caught up in numbers. If you had told me 22 years ago that I would be so close, I would have told you you were crazy. My career has been great.”

Despite another multi-house game, Albert Pujols still plans to retire

There you have it, Pujols won’t back down on his retirement decision.

At the top of the second half against the Diamondbacks, Pujols hit home number 691 to the left center field. In the process, Pujols surpassed legend Cardinal Stan Messiel for the second-most total base count in MLB history, which was previously set at 6134.

Then he achieved a number 692 at home at the top of the fourth game, to ensure his third match on multiple grounds this season, at the age of 42.

After this game, the Pujols cut .452/.514/.1.065 while scoring six home runs, 13 RBI, and 14 hits in August.

Regardless of whether he scores 700 home points or not, Pujols still plans to call him a career whenever the Cardinal’s season is over.
