House of Panthers Got involved in an exciting game? We were considered shocked (sarcasm.)

Last week, Pat Nardozy’s side defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers 38-31 in the pick of six with less than three minutes left in regulation. Now, they’ve moved on to face the 24th Volunteer in Tennessee.

In the second week, the Panthers followed through with the order to force them into overtime against Tennessee. However, it was the Volunteers who were victorious, taking a 34-27 win in just one overtime. Tennessee took the victory in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Hendon Hooker to Cedric Tillman. Then their defense did their job, forcing Pittsburgh to turn it over after eight games.

Tennessee defeats Pete in overtime: College football media reactions

College football media shared their thoughts on the Volunteers’ massive win in Week Two, which will undoubtedly propel them to the top of the AP 25 rankings, especially with the surprising losses at Notre Dame and Texas A&M.

Pittsburgh trailed 27-20 with just over seven minutes remaining on the list. It took 10 plays for the Panthers to tie things up after Nick Batty called Jared Wayne to land four yards on the fourth and goal.

Then in overtime, Tennessee only scored in two games, the most recent of which was the aforementioned touchdown pass from Hooker to Tillman. Pittsburgh had one engine to match. Patty was able to convert in fourth and fifth on the 10-yard pass to Konata Mumbfield. However, he wasn’t able to do it in fourth and goal, as his pass attempt to Mumpfield was incomplete.

Hooker completed 27 of 45 pass attempts for 325 yards and two touchdowns.

Bate filled in for Kidon Sloves, who left the match and did not return for the second half due to an undisclosed injury. Patty completed 9 of his 20 throws for 79 yards and one touchdown.

Panthers running back Israel Abanikanda managed a 154-yard sprint and one landing on 25 chariots.

Tennesee looks to go 3-0 on the season with a win over Akron next week. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh will attempt to return to the winning streak, where it will face western Michigan.
