In the end, someone will take a chance on Liberty Flames head coach Hugh Friese and make him the Power Five coach again. While his time at the Ole Miss ended in disgrace, people know about Liberty Football because of the amazing work that Freeze did in Lynchburg. Although he could definitely win in Arizona, we have to wonder if his reputation will hold him back.

The returns are still early days, but everyone is starting to get interested in the amazing work that Lance Leibold is doing in Kansas. Yes, the Kansas Jayhawks actually got votes in the latest AP 25 Top 25 poll. They are 3-0 and are headed toward making a game with the ball. Leibold was a great coach at Buffalo previously. It remains to be seen if he will stay in Lawrence or take another job elsewhere.

If you can stand it, Urban Meyer has the potential to transform Arizona’s entire football program. Oh, he’ll quit you in a decade and leave your show in utter disarray, but you win, and you win a lot! With USC and UCLA leaving Pac-12 in 2024, Meyer could have these Sun Devils in the College Football Playoff by his second year on the job if hired by them.

It was a great story, but it ended. Deion Sanders will lead the Power Five next season. He has done well in the state of Jackson and there are a lot of interesting vacancies that will open up for him. Coach Prime will be an influential presence wherever he goes. Whether that’s Auburn, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, or now Arizona is entirely up to him. He holds all the papers.

Matt Rhule can handle any bad training situation in college, but not in the NFL
There is one man for this job and we know who he is. Year 3 Matt Rolle may not be leading the Carolina Panthers, but what he did previously at Baylor and Temple will never be forgotten. He can turn around for any oppressor program. This is a man with a great deal of dignity and respect from his peers in training. If he gets beaten up in Charlotte, Rhule goes to ASU.
Ultimately, there are only two courses of action for Arizona to take. They either hire a proven head coach with a turbulent past and hope the tricks are behind him or they place their faith and trust in a man who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. There is too much talent in The Valley of Arizona to be this unknown bad. I hope Edwards’ successor is a great person.
Arizona may not get its first choice, but getting out before then would serve the program.
