While there is still some time left in the regular 2022 MLB season, it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the post-season and which teams can take a deep tour in the post-season and possibly win the World Championship.

With that idea in mind, let’s take a look at the MLB rankings for the teams likely to make the postseason this year. The stadium is set mostly, with the Philadelphia Phillies having the most chance of any team post-season if the season ends today for not making the playoffs. at 17.3 percent per FanGraphs.

Entering Monday’s play, here are the teams that will play in this year’s expanded post-season format:

American League – Cleveland Guardians, Houston Astros, New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays

National League – Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres

Twelve teams will participate in the post-season, all looking to topple the Braves as world champions.

MLB Power Rankings for Postseason Field

12. San Diego Padres

The Padres simply didn’t see the expected benefits from Juan Soto’s trade, with the All-Star cut only 0.21/.386/.366 since arriving in San Diego. The same can be said of Josh Bell, who also came from Washington on the huge deal but struggled to make it to the .203/.313/.301 slash.

Add to that that Padres, if they were to become the fifth or sixth seed, would be sent to Atlanta/New York or St. Louis for the Wild Card Tour and it could be a very short stay in the post-season. However, it could be a battle to recall the regular season for the fifth and sixth seed between Padres and Velez, the two retired teams in our ranking.

11. Philadelphia Phyllis

The Phillies could match one of the NL East’s competitors in the Mets or Braves. Atlanta swept Philadelphia this weekend and had four more games against the Phillies starting Thursday, so the two teams could play a big part in their respective fates before the week ends.

Philadelphia Stadium has been the team’s albatross flyer all season, with the group collectively ranking 27th in all baseball game with minus 3.7 bWAR. So far in September, Velez is 7-8, offside in the post-season.
