The best memes and tweets walking around in Texas for a surprise Texas Tech loss

Twitter users announced that the Texas Longhorns are not back after suffering a surprise loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The only question surrounding the Texas Longhorns football program was, “Are they back?” Four weeks into the 2022 season, we can say with confidence – not yet.

The Longhorns sought to maintain the Top 25 standings by defeating the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Instead, after forcing overtime on Burt Auburn’s 48-yard goal into the bell, Longhorns lost 37-34 after Trey Wolff hit a 20-yard field goal for the Red Raiders.

Texas has only one play in overtime, and it was directed by star Bijan Robinson. The problem is that Robinson missed the ball and Texas Tech got it back. After five plays, a short yardage field goal was made to give the Red Raiders their first win over the Longhorns since 2017.

Twitter announces Texas won’t be back after surprise loss to Texas Tech

Like when the Longhorns lose, Twitter users sent the best tweets and memes at their expense. Not only that, but the Red Raiders got some love from former quarterback and Kansas City headliners Patrick Mahomes, former second baseman and 12th pick by Detroit Tigers Jes Jong.

The Longhorns were apparently in good shape after Robinson ran 40 yards to give them a 31-17 lead. Instead, they watched the Reds lead 34-31 with 21 seconds left behind a Sarodoric Thompson touchdown, a touchdown pass from Donovan Smith to Baylor Cobb, and a 45-yard field goal from Wolff.

However, the Longhorns managed to hit the Red Raiders’ 29-yard line to create a field target to hook Auburn’s game at the bell. From there, we know how things turned out in overtime.

The Longhorns quarterback threw the Hudson Card for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while completing 66.7 percent of his passes (20 of 30). Robinson ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 16 buggies.

For the Red Raiders, Smith completed 38 passes for 331 yards and two touchdowns in 56 attempts.

After this loss, Longhorns fans will hear that “Texas is not back” for next week.
