St. Louis Cardinals fans will get at least one more chance to honor Albert Pujols and Yadir Molina at home.
While the cards will make the playoffs – likely the No. 3 seed in the National League – it’s hard to know how long they will survive in what is expected to be a hot race.
At least for the regular season, card fans will get a chance to say goodbye to their champions during the team’s final game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Starting Friday, giant thank you cards will be made available to fans honoring the likes of Pujols and Molina, both integral parts of the St.
One day, their shirts will retire and a plaque in Cooperstown will bear their names. But for now, this is a file The best way to honor them.
Cardinals fans thank Albert Pujols, Yadir Molina
Molina has spent his entire career with cards, and it’s one of the best props ever, not to mention his era. Offensively, Molina has generally produced a consistent clip, while leading one of the best promotion team in NL at age 40. Oh, and run on Yadi at your own risk. He still has one of baseball’s strongest arms from behind the board.
As for the Pujols, what more could be said? He just hit number 700 on his home road in Los Angeles, which was a fitting end. It was his return to St. Louis after a long time, and it helped heal a grieving fan base when he left in the first place.
Both players won the World Championships with the team, leaving the franchise better than what they found. They are pillars in the St. Louis community, too.
A due thanks is the least a card lover can do.
