Aaron Rodgers has been pretty honest about the Packers, but he’s right

Aaron Rodgers is absolutely right to know that the Green Bay Packers’ style of play is not sustainable in the long run.

While most teams like it to be 3-1, that’s what Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers expect.

After losing their first game of the season to the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay has since racked up three straight wins, including a narrow 27-24 overtime win over the New England Patriots. Although the victory over New England still meant something, Rodgers was absolutely correct in saying that for the Packers this style of play is not sustainable in the long run. They can’t go on with that…

Here’s what he said after the match Rob Damofsky from ESPN About the Week 4 Overtime Win.

“This winning method, I don’t think, is sustainable because it puts a lot of pressure on our defence,” Rodgers said after the game on Sunday. “Obviously I have to play better and I will play better.”

What made this victory so worrisome was that a third-tier rookie quarterback by the name of Billy Zappy nearly upset the Packers at Lambeau Field. Zappe was a promising prospect coming out of western Kentucky, but there’s no reason the game should come that close.

“You can’t lose 2-2 to a quarterback in the third series and not play great in all three stages, so we had to make that stage,” Rodgers continued. “It doesn’t take anything away from the fun of winning, but this one we should have had.”

Great defenses come and go, but elite offensive play can be sustainable; Packers should find it.

Aaron Rodgers is absolutely right in his criticism of the Green Bay Packers

While the Packers have paid Rodgers a premium to continue playing for them, he is not without fault. He should play better. Most importantly, he needs to continue to develop a relationship with his younger receivers. Davante Adams’ loss to the Las Vegas Raiders this season cannot be overstated. Rodgers’ security blanket in the pass game is long gone, so the team must adapt.

The good news for Rodgers and Green Bay is that they play in the weakest of the two conferences. Time is on their side to develop chemistry throughout the season, mostly out of necessity. The weather factor is in Green Bay’s favor as the season progresses, and this team has the chops to likely win NFC and return to the Super Bowl. Of course, they should play healthy football.

Overall, having a quick defense and attack that you can trust are two things the Rodgers and Packers haven’t had in most years. The good news is that we have seen the passing attack flourish year after year with Rodgers under center defence. Once again, building alchemy with his new receiving legion would take some time. Being 3-1 makes it easy to swallow Rodgers’ bitter pill.

Once Rodgers and his passing game really get off the ground, this could become the best team in NFC.
