Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev Live broadcast and highlights

UFC 280: Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev: Live Score & Highlights.

The UFC Lightweight Championship will no longer be vacant at UFC 280, as former champions Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev battle for the division crown in the Abu Dhabi Tag Team main event.

Oliveira enters this title in 11 consecutive games – with all but one ending – and is looking to become a two-time champion.

Oliveira originally took the title by finishing in the second round for Michael Chandler at UFC 262 and held it against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269. While Oliveira introduced Justin Gethje at UFC 274 in May, there was a half-pound weightlifter. 155 pounds max, and he lost his championship to the scale.

Makhachev entered this competition in a streak of consecutive victories 10 fights and only 1 loss to his name. Retired lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who Makhachev has fought over for the past 18 months, sponsored Drew Duber, Thiago Moises and Dan Hooker, as well as earning a first-round TKO from Bobby Green.

A second title fight will take place in the co-main event, as Aljamain Sterling defends the UFC Heavyweight Championship against former champion TJ Dillashaw.

Sterling, who won seven fights in a row, became the first fighter in UFC history to win a championship on DQ when he defeated Peter Yahn at UFC 259. He retained the title in a rematch with Yan earlier this year at UFC 273.

This will be Dillashaw’s first fight since his July 2021 win over Cory Sandhagen. It marked Dillashaw’s first bout after he served a two-year suspension period to test positive for EPO – an incident that led to him being stripped of his bantamweight title.

Dillashaw originally won the UFC bantamweight title in one of the biggest upsets in MMA history, defeating Renan Barao at UFC 173. He held the title against Joe Soto and Barao before dropping it in a close decision in January 2016 to Dominick Cruz.

Dillashaw regained the title at UFC 217 by stopping then-unbeaten Cody Garbrandt, who also beat him in a rematch before being stopped by Henry Cejudo in an effort to earn champion status with the flyweight title on the line.

Jan will also be shown on the UFC 280 card, taking on Sean O’Malley, whose bout with Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276 earlier this year went out of competition due to the accidental eye-poke.
