Watch the Ivy League stadium invaded by a massive student protest in the first half

A group of students protested against the University of Pennsylvania during the first half of a football team’s game against Yale.

Week 8 of the college football season saw plenty of big games, including No. 5 Clemson versus No. 14 in Syracuse, and No. 9 UCLA versus No. 10 in Oregon. But in the Ivy League, there was a homecoming game between the Penn Quakers and Yale Bulldogs.

During the break, a group of students protested on the field. The reason for this is that they were protesting “climate and community justice from the University of Pennsylvania administration,” according to Bella Diamore of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The group protesting in Franklin Square was the Fossil Free Pen Group, which aims to “disinvest in the fossil fuel industry.” On their website.

In the memo in which Diamore shared a photo, the group made three demands: divestment from fossil fuels, pay pilots (payments in lieu of taxes), and save college town homes. They also stated that they are not looking to cancel the game.

The protest lasted about an hour. Where police officers escorted the students out of the square.

As for the game itself, Ben Yale was defeated 20-13 thanks to a game-winning touchdown by Jonathan Mulatto with 20 seconds left in regulation.
