Bryce Harper makes his claim as the real MLB Playoff GOAT

When it comes to Philadelphia Phillies’ Bryce Harper, he’s staked his claim to be the best post-season hitter in recent memory.

The Philadelphia Phillies have reached the post-season for the first time since 2010, and they have reached the World Championships. The Phillies won the National League title after defeating the San Diego Padres 4-3 in Game Five on Sunday.

Philadelphia won Game 5 after defensive line Bryce Harper crushed Homer in two rounds at the bottom of the eighth inning to give them a late lead. All they needed was to close Padres at the top of the ninth standings, which they did in part thanks to Ranger Suarez’s entry into David Robertson’s rest to claim victory in the last two games.

For the Phillies fans who proclaimed that Harper had one of the best post-season runs in history, you now have evidence to back up that claim. Shel Kapadia of The Ringer tweeted that in the past 15 years, Harper has had the highest hits and OPS of all the 339 players who made at least 40 post-season appearances in that time period. Bryce Harper has the best post-season performance in recent memory

Harper has averaged 0.419 and 1.351 OPS in 11 games in Philadelphia this postseason.

Back in 2019, Harper was the Free Agency’s best player. After a long wait, Harper agreed to sign a 13-year contract extension worth $330 million. In 2021, Harper won the NL MVP award for the second time in his career, his first in a Phillies costume. Then that season, Harper was elected to the All-Star Game.

With a Game 5 in the books, Harper has been named the NLCS MVP after scoring a hit average of 400 hits, two home runs, and three pairs.

Harper will look to continue his strong streak on the board at the World Championships, where he will play either the Houston Astros or the New York Yankees.
