New York Yankees fans wanting a change in the organization after sweeping the ALCS may not like a recent report on the team’s plans.
To say that the New York Yankees fan base is upset, angry, and annoyed after yet another early exit for post-season, is an understatement. Once again, the Yankees were unable to overtake the Houston Astros in the playoffs, this time losing in four straight games in the MLS Championship Series.
Some Yankees fans called out chiefs general manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone for the team’s inability to compete against the Astros, and their struggle to beat the Cleveland Guardians.
Yankees fans won’t like the latest report.
According to Andy Martino of SNYMost Yankees members believe owner Hal Steinbrenner will demand Cashman’s return, as his contract expires this winter.
Later in the report, Martino said Boone is expected to return as Yankees manager next season if Cashman returns.

After the 2017 season, in which New York took one win over the Astros to advance to the World Championships, the organization decided to part ways with then-manager Joe Girardi. After research, the Yankees hired a former player and 2003 ALCS champ in Boone, who was previously at ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball booth.
There’s no denying that Boone has been a regular hit of the season, as is He became the first manager to lead a team beyond the season in each of his first five seasons. The issue was making his decision. That was evident throughout this post-season, with multiple examples.
In Game 3 of the ALDS against the Cleveland Guardians, Boone chose to go to Clarke Schmidt in the ninth inning with a 5-3 lead in relief to Andy Peralta, who surrendered singles and doubles. Schmidt delivered a single by Amed Rosario and a single by Oscar Gonzalez.
Then there was Game 1 of ALCS. Schmidt got off the hook in the fifth inning. Already facing a minimum three-stroke, Boone decided to bring Schmidt back in the sixth inning, surrendering two singles at home to Yuli Gouriel and Chas McCormick to break the 1-1 tie.
In Game 3 of the ALCS, Boone decided to pull his ace Gerrit Cole in the sixth inning with bases loaded and no exits. Even though Cole is one of the highest paid shooters in the game, the decision was made that he shouldn’t work out of trouble. Instead, they brought in Lou Trevino, who succumbed to three runs to increase New York’s deficit from 2-0 to 5-0.
Not to mention the constant line-up changes throughout the ALCS. They had three different hitters (Gleyber Torres, Harrison Bader and Anthony Rizzo) and three different starting points (Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Oswald Peraza and Oswaldo Cabrera) throughout the series.
Boone signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth season last winter when the team was eliminated by the Boston Red Sox at the 2021 AL Wild Card game. While Boone has had regular season wins on his record, there’s no hiding the fact that he didn’t make it To the world championship once in his five years as team captain.
All fans can really do is wait for an announcement from the team announcing Cashman’s and Boone’s future with the team, and their plans for the off-season and 2023 campaign.
