A new team has appeared in Chase Claypool’s commercial discussions

With the NFL trade deadline taking place on Tuesday, November 1, there is a new team inquiring about Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 1, days away. Lots of players were on the move, including the wide receivers. Robbie Anderson was traded to the Arizona Cardinals by the Carolina Panthers, and Tony Kadarius was acquired by the Kansas City Chiefs of the New York Giants.

One wide receiver that has been linked to the trade rumors in the lead up to Deadline is Chase Claypool of the Pittsburgh Steelers. There is now a new team that has been linked to Claypool.

While appearing on “Mackie’s Good Podcast,” SKOR North’s Darren Wolfson said the team that made an inquiry about Claypool is the Minnesota Vikings. (The quote can be heard at the 6:28 mark from the video linked above.)

“I’ve heard there have been conversations with Pittsburgh. I don’t feel like there’s anything about to happen, that it was a serious conversation. But [the Vikings] At least ask about [Chase] Wolfson said, h/t MinnesotaSportsFan.com. “My understanding is that there was a dialogue with Denver but I don’t know the details there, so I’m not ready to say yes, they specifically inquired about Jerry Judy. Because you’re thinking of one of their tight ends available. You think of KJ Hamler. There are myriads. of the possibilities in playing with the Broncos.”

The Vikings have been linked with the Steelers’ hunt for Claypool before the trade deadline

Wolfson notes that he doesn’t know if this means the Vikings got into serious discussions with Claypool’s Steelers, but they at least inquired about him.

The Vikings are 5-1 on the season and are leading by two games over the Green Bay Packers at NFC North. They are in a position to make a few additions to ensure a deep watershed tour of what is essentially wide-open NFC.

Back on October 23, NFL Network National Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Claypool is not expected to be dealt with, “except for transformation”.

Claypool is in his third season with the Steelers. He shone in his rookie season, scoring 62 receptions for 873 yards and nine touchdowns on 109 goals. Claypool set similar numbers in 2021, posting 59 receptions for 860 yards, but never before.

This season, well, the Steelers’ offensive has been far from strong. They made the switch from quarterback Mitch Trubesky to rookie Kenny Beckett. In seven games, Claypool recorded 28 receptions for 266 yards and one touchdown.

Trades were flying as we got closer and closer to the November 1 deadline. It will be interesting to see if Claypool will be dealt with elsewhere, or if he stays in Pittsburgh.
