Cardinal fans can’t wait for Cliff Kingsbury to walk away

Cardinal fans can’t wait for Cliff Kingsbury to walk away from the team.

The Arizona Cardinals are now 3-6. Just months after locking QB Kyler Murray, head coach Kliff Kingsbury, and GM Steve Keim into long-term deals, the team is in disarray after losing to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.

Last season, the Cardinals went 11-6 and finished second in the division. After a 7-0 start to the season, Kingsbury and Murray looked like they could walk on water. But after completing the season 4-6 and being defeated by their rival Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the playoffs, skeptics began to wonder if the right pieces were in place.

But despite these open questions about Kingsbury and Murray, the Cardinals organization has tied her bandwagon to the duo. Murray signed a five-year deal worth $230.5 million, making him one of the highest-paid QBs in the league. Kingsbury has signed an extension of his detention until 2027.

Arizona Cardinals fans look forward to overtaking Cliff Kingsbury for next season

After a slow start, the Cardinals sit last in the NFC West. So far, Kyler Murray doesn’t look like he’s worthy of the off-season contract. He is number 20 in the league in QBR and in the middle of the group with six interceptions. Pair this with one of the worst defenses in the league, both in terms of yards abandoned and points allowed and the overall record starts to make more sense.

With these collective failures, finger pointing has fallen squarely on the head coach. Cliff Kingsbury came to Arizona after 6 years at Texas Tech (career record 35-40). He commanded notable offenses during his tenure, but also commanded some of the country’s worst defenses.

Some fans were quick to point out that even with Patrick Mahomes leading the future NFL MVP, Kingsbury had a losing track record.

His tenure with the Arizona Cardinals charted a similar trajectory – heavy fouls while neglecting the defensive side of the ball. Kingsbury has a losing career record in the NFL, and he’s starting to look like he’s completely lost fans.

While Kyler Murray hasn’t been stellar all season, fans blamed Kingsbury.

And with the Seahawks losing in Week 9, the Kingsbury launch calls will only get louder and louder.

We’ll wait to see if he still has a job next week as the Arizona Cardinals compete against the Rams in Los Angeles, or if he’ll watch from the comfort of his home. Not a terrible place to watch a game.
