The NFL’s senior vice president in charge of Walt Anderson confirmed that one controversial Buffalo Bills-Minnesota Vikings play should have been reviewed.
The NFL might have won Game of the Year in Week 10 of this season. Two of the league’s top teams battled it out, with the Buffalo Bills 6-2 hosting the Minnesota Vikings with a 7-1 score. The end of the match was a complete mess, as it went into overtime, as the Vikings came out with a 33-30 victory.
In the final round of the fourth quarter, there was a controversial play in which Bills wide receiver Gabriel Davis made a pass by Josh Allen and was called a full pass. While Davis got on his knees, he was juggling the soccer ball and had no apparent possession. However, the judges did not review it, as Biles was soon invited to a play.
After the game, pool reporter Lindsay Jones of Pro Football Writers of America asked the NFL senior vice president why there was no replay review, and noted that the play was off the field, but stated that the replay official should have had He called to stop playing to look into the matter.

“It was quite a distance down the field,” Anderson said. “And although that happens quickly and speeds Buffalo to the line of scrimmage in the next play, if the replay official can’t confirm that he’s been taken for too long from a completed pass, we should stop playing to make sure it’s a problem.”
Jones then asked Anderson if the replay team had had a chance to consider the play and whether or not they would judge it. Anderson said he was going to reverse the call.
“After several plays, we were able to look at all angles,” Anderson said. It could have reversed into an incomplete pass because he did not maintain control of the ball after it hit the ground and the ball touched the ground outside the bounds.”
This was a crucial play in the game, as Bills put into the goal field. After three plays, Tyler Bass kicked a 29-yard field goal to tie the game into 30-30 and force overtime. It was a play that angered Vikings fans. Fortunately for them, this did not result in a loss.
The Vikings staged a 12-game run that ended with Greg Joseph kicking a field goal from 33 yards for a 33-30 lead. The bills were threatening, making it all the way to the Vikings’ 20-yard line. However, Josh Allen threw a pass assigned to Davies, but it was intercepted by cornerback Patrick Peterson, second in the game.
If the replay crew had had a chance to look at Davis’ catch, Anderson says they would have reversed it. Vikings fans will probably be forgiven, because the team ended up winning the match after all.
