What bowl game does Tennessee play in?

Tennessee isn’t where they want to be in 2022 after a great start to the season, but they can still salvage things with a strong bowl performance.

For an extended period of the 2022 season, the Tennessee Volunteers looked unstoppable. Then they ran headfirst into Georgia and it all fell apart.

Tennessee lost to South Carolina in embarrassing fashion while losing quarterback Hendon Hooker to a season-ending injury.

That doesn’t mean their campaign can’t top a game aimed at propelling them to bigger things in 2023.

Tennessee Bowl Forecast: The Volunteers are expected to play in the Cotton Bowl

With Georgia and LSU facing off in the SEC title game and Alabama ahead of the Volunteers in the College Football Playoff rankings, Tennessee’s position in the bowl selection process could change dramatically based on the tournament results this weekend.

If things play out for chalk, the Cotton Bowl Volunteers are expected to play as a top pick against Tulane, As CBS Sports predicted.

This is the most likely outcome given that Georgia is expected to overtake LSU, knocking it out in the Citrus Bowl, and Alabama should be the Sugar Bowl’s pick as the best non-SEC champ.

The disaster scenario for Tennessee is LSU beating Georgia. The Tigers will play in the Sugar Bowl and Alabama could end up taking the Cotton Bowl berth with their higher ranking. Then Tennessee will fall to the Citrus Bowl, unless real chaos unfolds and Ohio State ends up in the playoff. Then they can still land in the Orange Bowl or the Cotton Bowl.
