Scott Boras completed the Yankees’ Carlos Rodon deal at Fenway Park

Sports agent Scott Porras managed to terminate agent Carlos Rodon’s contract with the New York Yankees while he was at Fenway Park.

MLB players who are clients of sports agent Scott Boras secured the briefcase this offseason. Carlos Correa, Xander Bogaerts, and Brandon Nimmo have each earned over $100 million with their teams.

Those are just three of Boras’ clients, all of whom helped secure a total of $1.01 billion in contracts this winter. There was a big name left in Carlos Rodon.

On Thursday night, Rodon agreed to terms on a six-year, $162 million contract with the New York Yankees. These numbers come courtesy of John Hyman of MLB Network.

For Yankees fans wondering how a deal between the team and Rodon will work out, Alex Speer of The Boston Globe detailed how it fell.

Boras closed the deal while he was in Fenway Park for agent Masataka Yoshida’s introductory press conference with the Boston Red Sox. Boras was cutting the deal because he was eating food from the buffet provided by the Red Sox!

Scott Boras finalized Carlos Rodon’s deal with the Yankees while he was at Fenway Park

“Moments after the media became available to introduce Yoshida, Boras struck a deal with the Sox rivals, negotiating a six-year, $162 million deal with the New York Yankees for lefty Carlos Rodon,” Speer wrote. “Negotiations took place on the last stretch when Boras snacked on food from the buffet provided by the Red Sox.”

This should be music to the ears of Yankee fans. Their off-season big plus agent finalizes the deal.

The Yankees offseason consisted of retaining superstar Aaron Judge to a nine-year, $360 million contract and first baseman Anthony Rizzo to a two-year, $40 million deal. Their only addition this season was running back relief pitcher Tommy Kanle.

Rodon spent one season with the San Francisco Giants, posting a 2.88 ERA, 1.028 WHIP, 14-8 win-loss record, 237 strikeouts, and 52 walks on 178.0 innings pitched (31 starts). He also made the All-Star Game for the second year in a row.

With the addition of Rodon, the Yankees have one of the most amazing starting rotations along with Gerrit Cole, Nestor Curtis, Luis Severino and Frankie Montas. And it was all wrapped up while Boras was attending Yoshida’s press conference at Fenway Park.
