Dak Prescott’s tough stat shows why the Cowboys need an OBJ

Dak Prescott now leads the NFL in interception rate, which is another sign that he needs an OBJ because so much of his inner intelligence wasn’t his fault.

The Dallas Cowboys entered Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a chance to clinch the playoffs.

They walked out of Sunday’s game against the Jaguars with their fingers pointing left and right because they had done no such thing.

Jacksonville sealed the win 40-34 in overtime thanks to a 52-yard pick-six from Rayshawn Jenkins.

This interception was Duck Prescott’s second of the day. It also gave him the league lead in a statistic no quarterback wants to claim: interception rate.

Interceptions have been an issue for Prescott since his return from injury. He has thrown 10 INTs in eight games. He had two last week against Texas. He had two again this week.

There are some Cowboys fans who will put Prescott’s turnover woes at the top of the pile of concerns for a team making the playoffs. Still, the picks highlight the unreliability of the quarterback’s receiving options as much as his mistakes.

This is exactly why fans keep calling for Jerry Jones to bring OBJ to Dallas, something he seems confident he’ll be able to do.

OBJ will help Duck Prescott interception problem

The game-ending interception return was a shining example of a receiver letting a quarterback go down. The ball hit his hands. The defender only had a chance to catch it because Noah Brown couldn’t hold onto it.

Prescott must own up to many of his objections, but he could use some help. He sure wasn’t lucky at times when it came to falls and aberrations. For example, his first interception of the day occurred after his arm was hit by a defender.

Having OBJ would give Prescott another reliable target, one with an impressive catch radius who could do a better job of holding onto the ball. He might make things easier for the quarterback simply by creating more space for himself.

Prescott has had to try to fit a lot of passes into tight windows this season. leads the league with a tight throwing average, in Mina Kimes. Obviously, this was part of the problem. OBJ is part of the solution.
