Kyle Bates pays a bet with Cordaryl Patterson on Tennessee-Florida

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Bates pushed his bet on teammate Cordaryl Patterson after the Florida Gators lost to the Tennessee Volunteers.

When it comes to the college football season, the NFL teammates place some friendly bets, especially when the two programs that said players are part of a head-to-head game. We’ve already seen it, with the Arizona Cardinals backing the quarterback Colt McCoy wears Texas Tech gear after the Texas Longhorns lose to Red Raiders Overtime in the fourth week. Now, another bet has paid off.

Cordarelli Patterson, a wide receiver from the Atlanta Falcons and a former Tennessee Volunteers star, made a court-ending bet for Kyle Bates, who played for the Florida Gators. The Volunteers took a 38-33 win over the Gators, meaning Bates had to pay off the bet. That was, wearing Tennessee checkerboard overalls.

Patterson posted visual evidence that Bates lived up to his end of the bargain on Twitter.

Bates launched himself into stardom while playing in Florida. In his three years with the Gators, Bates had 100 passes for 1,492 yards and 18 touchdowns. His final year saw him record 43 catches for 770 yards and 12 touchdowns. Bates’ stock soared, and he was named fourth by the Falcons in 2021.

Patterson became a shining star in his only season at Tennessee, posing as a threat as a future, runner and returnee. In 2012, Patterson scored 1,086 yards and eight touchdowns from a melee in 71 plays. Patterson also returned 24 kicks for 671 yards and one touchdown, and four kicks for 101 yards and one touchdown. Patterson was selected with the 29th overall selection by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Volunteers were led to victory by quarterback Hendon Hooker, who completed 22 of 28 pass attempts for 349 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 112 yards and landed on 13 chariots.

Florida almost bounced back after cutting back to 38-33 and reclaiming a kick to the side. However, their final drive stalled, and Anthony Richardson ended up throwing an interception while trying.

Patterson’s volunteers won, and he was able to see his teammate and ex-Gator wear chessboard suits as part of their bet.
